Ruth Marie Spilman, 82, of Milan, Illinois, died Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 8, in Leando Cemetery, Douds, Iowa.

The former Ruth Marie Plowman was born August 25, 1939, in Kimball, Nebraska, the daughter of Henry and Ruth (Neal) Plowman. She married Frank Spilman, with whom she had four children before separating. She later married Larry Schultz. She worked as a bank teller in Orion for several years and loved her clients.

Marie was raised and graduated from high school in Douds, Iowa. After marrying Frank, the couple moved to Chicago, where her four children were born. She enjoyed traveling and also later lived in Phoenix, Arizona, and Ohio.

She is survived by four children, Deborah Berhenke of Milan, Frank (Pam) Spilman, Jr. of Rapids City, Illinois, James (Connie) Spilman of Moline, and Michael Spilman of Milan; nine beloved grandchildren, Jeremiah (Jessica) Berhenke, Amy (Sonny) Dodd, Brianna (Kyle) Rollins, Tiffany Spilman, Timothy Spilman, Ben Spilman, Hailey (Josh) Patana, Tailyr (Sam) Hettinger, and Samantha Spilman; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, David (Janet) Plowman of Missouri, Lynn (Barb) Plowman of Kansas, and Pat (David) Hill of Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Dorothy Bell, Fred Plowman, and Joan Denney.
