Ruth Schwarz, 82, of Moline, IL, died July 11, 2006 at Davenport Lutheran Home, Davenport, IA.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John?s Lutheran Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport, IA. Visitation is Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be given to St. John?s Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne Seminary or the German American Heritage Center.
The former Ruth Bernadine Ball was born August 16, 1923, in Wilton, Iowa the daughter of Bernhardt and Alvina (Utesch) Ball. She married Calvin Ray Schwarz on March 2, 1945, in Wilton, Iowa, he preceded her in death on June 26, 2002. Ruth was employed at the Kmart in Moline for 19 years. During World War II, she was employed at the Tank Arsenal in Bettendorf, Iowa. Ruth was a member of St John?s Lutheran Church in East Moline, where she was active in the choir, the birthday club, the ladies aid, and the 60 plus club. She was a member of the American Schleswig-Holstein Heritage Society, and a charter member of the Friendship Force of the Quad Cities, having traveled extensively throughout the world. Ruth loved jigsaw puzzles, history and genealogy, and enjoyed cooking, quilting, and handy crafts.
Ruth is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne and Johnny Tingle of Rock Island, IL, and Paula and David Pratt of Moline, thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, a sister, Elnora Whitmer of Muscatine, IA, and four bothers, Carl Ball of Ridge Manor, FL, Elmer Ball of Wilton, IA, Allan Ball of Muscatine, IA, and Richard Ball of Norfolk, VA. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Ellen Faye Schwarz, and Diana Johnson, two sons, Dwayne Schwarz, and Bernard Schwarz, a grandson, Randall Schwarz, a sister, Frances Ball, and a brother Harvey Ball.
