Russell D. McKee

Russell D. McKee, 53, of Galva, Illinois, formerly of East Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.  He continued his legacy of giving to others by being an organ and tissue donor.

Services to celebrate Russ’ life will be held Friday, July 21, at Victory Baptist Church, 900 46^th Avenue, East Moline, beginning with a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.  A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor James Patrick officiating, immediately followed by a funeral luncheon.  Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Russ’ memory.

Russell Davis McKee was born August 4, 1969, in Silvis, Illinois, the son of Thomas and Martha (Platt) McKee.  He was currently with his soulmate, Christina Black, and the couple had three beautiful children together. 

He was a wonderful cook who will be remembered for his Barbeque.  He enjoyed computers, and playfully picking on people and making them laugh.  In recent years, he was very particular about his “purified water”.  Above all else, family was the most important thing to Russ, especially his children and grandson.

Russ is survived by his soulmate, Christina Black; their three children, Elizabeth, Bryian and Liberty McKee; his grandson, Eric Albert; siblings, Roberta “Robin” (Andrew) Glaze of Florida, Richard (Karla) McKee of Tennessee, Ronald (Tamra) McKee of Florida, Rodney “Rod” (Sandra) McKee of Davenport, and Rory McKee of East Moline; and a host of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Jessica McKee, his parents and great-grandparents.
