Rufus Parr

Rufus M. Parr, 76, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, March 6, 2006, in his residence.
Private family services will be held in Tennessee at a later date. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family.
Rufus Milburn Parr was born March 22, 1929, in Limestone, Tennessee, the son of Rufus C. and Mary Jane (Roberts) Parr. He married Irene Strauss on June 22, 1950, in Rock Island, Illinois. She died July 30, 1993. He was owner of R. M. Parr Landscaping and Excavating Company, Moline, for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He served in the U.S. Navy in WW II and in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of VFW, DAV, and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and traveling.
Rufus is survived by four sisters, Cleo Vines, Ruby Masters and her husband Dub, and Katherine Franklin, all of Jonesborough, Tennessee, and Thelma Shanks of Limestone, Tennessee, and 13 nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Sandra Squibb of Kingsport, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers and two sisters.
