Roy G. Serpa, 70, of New Windsor, Illinois, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at the University of Chicago Hospital, Chicago, Illinois.
A Memorial Gathering is 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home, 701 12th Street, Moline, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
Roy George Serpa was born August 31, 1944, in Bellflower, California, the son of Manuel and Freda (Barrett) Serpa. He served in the United States Air Force.
Roy worked for the City of Moline Water Department, and also owned and operated RGS Photography.
He was a member of the Second Wind Lung Transplant Association, having a double lung transplant in 2002. He also belonged to ABATE of Illinois.
He enjoyed photography, being outdoors, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Roy is survived by four children, Steven Serpa of Renton, Washington, Trish Kasson of Kent, Washington, Mike and Sally Serpa of Moline, and Brook and Bill Lambert of Milan, Illinois; grandchildren, Heather and Thomas Russell, Andrew Serpa, and Emma Lambert; a great-grandson, Chase; and siblings, Tom and Cathy Serpa, and Rita and Jeff Leid. He was preceded in death by his parents, his fiancé, Bridget Gray in March of 2014, and siblings, Michael and Jeannie.
