Roscoe Haymon, Sr., 93, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, Illinois.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday at Third Missionary Baptist Church, Davenport, Iowa. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is serving the family.
Roscoe was born December 28, 1921, in Blytheville, Arkansas, to Albert and Lillian (White) Haymon. He served in the United States Air Corps during World War II before marrying Earnestine Howard on May 8, 1949, in Robertson, Missouri. She died December 2, 2013.
After retirement from American Air Filter in Moline, where he was a painter and forklift operator, he worked as a bus driver for Project NOW.
He was an active member of the church, serving as deacon and singing in the choir. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Roscoe is survived by six children, Geraldine McDonald of Washington D.C., Roscoe Haymon, Jr. of Rock Island, Marvin Haymon of Rock Island, Brenda (Chuck) Harris of Riverside, California, Maurice Haymon of Long Beach, California, and Renaud Haymon of Rock Island; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife; a sister, Ruth Johnson; and brothers, Cleophus, Edward, Lucious, and John Tyler "J.T." Johnson; and Andrew and Wallee Haymon.
