Rory D. Hammond, 60, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, in his residence.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial will be in Miles Cemetery, Miles, Iowa, at a later date. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
Rory Duane Hammond was born September 26, 1952, in Clinton, Iowa, to Donald and Wanda Kelley Hammond. He married Kathy Carper, who preceded him in death. He was maintenance manager for Valley View Apartments for the past two years, and was previously a farm manager in Maryland for 18 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, and working with his hands.
Rory is survived by his mother, Wanda Hammond of East Moline, Illinois; sisters, Roxanne Gustaveson and her husband Craig of Iowa City, Iowa, and Robin Kroymann and her husband Jim of Clinton, Iowa; a brother, Michael Hammond and his wife Susan Dibble of Arlington, Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews; and his friend, Cathy Sorensen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; his father, Donald Hammond; and his brother, Mark Hammond.
