Ronald W. DeArmond, 75, formerly of Rapids City, Illinois, died Sunday, January 13, 2013, in The Lighthouse at Silvis, Silvis, Illinois,
Services are 2 p.m. Friday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is one hour before the services.
Ronald Warren DeArmond was born October 23, 1937, in Grinnell, Iowa, to Warren E. and Viletha Kelly DeArmond. He served in the U. S. Army and the Reserves. He was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for 33 years, retiring from procurement in 1993.
Ron was a member of First United Methodist Church, Port Byron, Illinois. He was a model railroader, a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, had coached his sons baseball and sport teams, and enjoyed taking care of his property in Rapids City.
Ron is survived by three sons, Ron of Pella, Iowa, Jeff DeArmond and his wife Kathy of Moline, and Blake DeArmond of East Peoria, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Nadine and Art Klingerman of Virginia; a niece, Kelly Spencer; and a nephew, A. J. Klingerman. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William DeArmond.
