Ronald L. Bloom, 77, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017, in UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois

Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home 1700 1st Street, Coal Valley, with The Rev. Robert Hagen officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mayo Clinic Foundation or a favorite charity.

Ronald Lee Bloom was born September 20, 1940, in Clinton, Iowa. He was raised in Burlington, Iowa by his mother and step-father, Helen (Hass) Evans and Leroy Evans. He served in the US Army from 1961 to 1963. He married Georgia Sawyer Parker on March 29, 1996, in Coal Valley. He worked in sales for UPS Freight in Rock Island for 19 years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Friends Circle Club, and enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and antiquing.

Ron is survived by his wife, Georgia; a step-son Mark Flemming of California; several cousins and their families; and Georgia's siblings and spouses, Sheela Sawyer, Diana and Neil Carroll, John and Jania Sawyer, and Doyle Sawyer and their families. Ron had many special friends throughout his life, including Denny Arnett, Denny and Carol Royster, Phil and Darcy McBroom, Jim and Jorja Beert, John and Janet Hill, Gale and Linda Adams, and many, many more.
