Ron was born on June 23, 1947, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Dale Sauer and Betty VanNatta. He married Carol Brown Clevenger on April 10, 1993, in Moline.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968, spending most of that time in Korea. He worked at John Deere Harvester for 30 years, retiring in 2000. He loved his family, church and serving God. He never knew a stranger and would help anyone in need. He and Carol belonged to the River City Riders Gold Wing motorcycle group and enjoyed many cross-country trips with those friends. Ron loved the Lord and shared his faith with anyone who would listen. He enjoyed Bible study in his churches, Calvary Church of the Quad Cities, Calvary Chapel of Coolidge, Arizona, and Christ Community Church of Sun City, Arizona. He fought his cancer with grace and hope, and still believed in miracles.
Ron is survived by his wife, Carol, of Moline; children, Michelle (Michael) Trapani of Elmhurst, Illinois, David (Anne Linnihan) Clevenger of Lakeville, Minnesota, and Douglas (Jenine) Clevenger of Brookfield, Illinois; grandchildren, Emma and Nicholas Trapani, Alec (Melissa) Abkemeier, Lauren Clevenger, and Charles Clevenger; brothers, Terry VanNatta of Sugar Grove, North Carolina, and Tim (Pat) Sauer of Blue Grass, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Russ) Jackson of Chillicothe, Illinois, and Nikki Brown of Moline; nephews, Darren Sauer, Bryce and Chase Jackson, and Toby Brown; nieces, Tasha Weimer, Cindy Yount, Connie Killian, Christine DaVault, and Cathy Stroder; Uncle Jack (Janis) Terrill of Buzzard Bay, Massachusetts; and many cousins and friends.
