Ronald E. Cameron, 73, of Sherrard, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at home.
Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, at Western Township Cemetery, Orion. The family will greet friends for coffee at First Lutheran Church, Sherrard immediately following the graveside service. Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Ron’s memory.
Ronald Edras Cameron was born January 6, 1949, in Milan, Illinois, the son of Leo George and Dorothy Lucille (Thor) Cameron. He graduated from Sherrard High School and went on to serve two years in the U.S. Army, spending one year in Vietnam.
He joined Deere & Company in October 1973 as a member of the John Deere Insurance Group. He transferred to Group Claims in 1974 as a Medical Claims Processor. He joined the Technical Information Department in 1988 before being promoted to Customer Support Analyst in 1998. He retired in November 2001.
Ron was a member of First Lutheran Church, Sherrard. He enjoyed decorating, doing crosswords, plants, and baking (he was known for his pastel creams). He also loved his many pets over the years, including his current dog, Tipper.
He is survived by five siblings, Carol Huettman of Sherrard, Natalie and Dennis Dochterman of Sherrard, Gary Cameron of Rock Island, Rosalie Rice of Viola, and Kathryn and Jim Thompson of Prattville, Alabama; and many beloved nieces and nephews, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Walter Huettman and John Rice; nephew, Chris Bone; and great-nephews, Alex, Jaxson and Ty Fisher.
