Roberto C. Cantu

Roberto C. Cantu, 78, of East Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, January 25, 2018, in Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, Illinois.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. There will be no local services. Private burial will be in Texas.

Roberto was born June 16, 1939, in Del Rio, Texas, to Esequiel and Antonia Castellano Cantu. He married Linda Love Sturms on July 2, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas. He was a security guard for Army Residence Community in San Antonio. He loved fishing and collecting John Deere memorabilia, and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.

Roberto is survived by his wife, Linda; three children and spouses, William and Dona Sturms of Bettendorf, Iowa, Cindy and Kenny Klahn of Port Byron, Illinois, and Sherill and Bill Rath of Viola, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Esequiel Cantu, Noe Cantu, Roel Cantu, Juan Cantu, Eloy Cantu, Gloria Johnson , and Elva Cantu, and their families, all of Texas. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Sturms, Jr., and two sisters.
