Jesus reached his arms out on July 5th and brought Bob back home.

Per Bob’s wishes, cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under direction of Cremation Society of the Qaud Cities. There will be no services following cremation.

Bob was born July 28, 1944 to Edwin “Bud” and Neola (Dooley) Schmidt in Davenport, Iowa. married Penny Martin in 1963 and later married Gloria Holtz on October 19,1984

Bob grew up in Davenport and graduated from West High School in 1963. He was employed at Alcoa ( Ingot Plant ) for 25 years. Then worked at the Baymont hotel until retiring in 2006.

He won the “World Series of Drag Racing- Street Stock” in his 1965 Chevy Impala. He was a true back yard Mechanic buying and selling cars for years. That same spirit moved in to antiques. Bob and Gloria enjoyed retirement together by taking trips to several states to see friends and family. Elvis was always on his jukebox!! His smart wit and sarcasm will be missed by all those who knew him.

Bob is survived by his wife Gloria Schmidt, his children: Melissa (Matt) Wainman, Jodi (Tom) Loussaert, Tara (Matt) Schneider. Laura (Sara ) Schmidt, grandchildren: Aubrey (Brice) Peters, Blake (Gabrielle ) Forsberg, Blaire, Mallory & Chris Loussaert, - Hallie and Jenna Wainman, Tyler and Madison Schneider. Three great grandchildren Ben & Amelia Peters and Josiah Schneider. His bother Ron (Joyce) Schmidt, Sister-In-Law Joyce Holtz, Bother In Law Dale (Deloria) Holtz as well as several nieces and nephews. His niece Tracy Rowland of whom he had a special bond and made sure to collect every pop can/bottle he could find.

Those he loved and proceeded him in death are both of his parents, an infant daughter, siblings Barb Dowell, Edwin “Short” and Gary Schmidt, Brother-In-Laws Dick Dowell, Gary and LeRoy Holtz, Sister-In-Laws Cindi Schmidt, Delores and Sharon Holtz, Nephews Chuck and Russ Dowell , John Schmidt, Neice Charlie Emma Schmidt.

The family would like to thank his Heartland Hospice team, the Eldridge Fire Department and Eldridge Police Department for treating him always with dignity and respect.

Bob you were love far more than you could imagine. We will miss you dearly.
