Robert Ray Kirby

Moline, Illinois Robert R. Kirby age 65 of Moline died Monday, March 26, 2001 in Southern Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City, Florida. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 1, 2001 in Trimble Funeral Home, Moline with the Reverend Nancy Jaster officiating. A visitation is scheduled from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00PM Sunday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Memorials may be directed to the family for a future memorial dedication at Highland Springs Golf Course in Rock Island. Robert Ray Kirby was born February 24, 1936 in Roseville, Illinois the son of Marshall and Juanita (Romine) Kirby. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1954 and attended Western Illinois University, and served in the United States Army. Robert married Sharon Lee Kinkead on January 24, 1959 in Moline, Illinois. Robert worked 30 years for the Quad City Times Newspaper, retiring in 1995. He had recently been working in the summers for the Rock Island Park District at the public golf courses. Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a true friend to many people. He was an avid sports fan, and participated in everything from refereeing to coaching, golfing and loved playing cards. Robert is survived by his wife Sharon, a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Randy Peterson, a son, Brad Kirby, two granddaughters, Taylor and Laura Peterson, all of Moline, and a brother, Larry Kirby of Milan.
