Robert R. Harris, 77, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Centennial Rehab & Healthcare, Moline.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2021, at Word of Life Church, Rock Island, with The Rev. Dennis Butler officiating. The services will be livestreamed at Facebook.com/TrimbleFuneralHome/live. The casket will be open for viewing from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Memorials may be made to his wife, Betty Harris, for a fund to be established.
Robert Roland Harris was born December 29, 1942, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the son of Fred and Nancy (Branson) Harris. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and married the love of his life, Betty Ganaway, on September 19, 2003, in Rock Island.
Bob was an active member of Greater Antioch Baptist Church, Rock Island, where he served as a Deacon. His favorite hobby was salvaging, finding many treasures over the years. He also loved music, fishing, watching sports, and was an avid reader. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Bob.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; his children, Valerie K. (Kevin) Boyer of Chattanooga, Robbie E. (Thomas) Dillard of Chattanooga, Robert R. (Dr. Jacqueline) Harris Jr. of Lake Elsinore, California, Carnisha (Tony) Crisp of Merriville, Indiana, Lashay Grant of Davenport, Jamar Harris of Moline, Robbin Harris of Kansas City, Missouri, Dale (Stephanie) Ganaway of Rock Island, Howard (Stephanie Bacon) Ganaway of Rock Island, and Elmer (Shirley Johnson) Ganaway of Jacksonville, Florida; his sister, Rev. Dr. Sheila E. Harris of Chattanooga; a special uncle, Dr. Nathaniel Branson of Baltimore, Maryland; his aunt, M. Francis Branson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Fred Harris, Jr.; and a sister, Sylvia Harris.
