Moline, Illinois Robert L. "Mickey" McDermand, 83, of Moline, died Saturday, October 4, 2003, in Illini Hospital, Silvis, Illinois. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elim Covenant Church, Moline, with The Reverend John K. Jacobi officiating. Graveside services are 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Osceola Grove Cemetery, rural Bradford, Illinois. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church. Robert Lloyd McDermand was born June 2, 1920, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Lloyd and Ora (Gravett) McDermand. He graduated from Kewanee High School in 1938, and served in the Illinois National Guard until WW II broke out. He served in the U. S. Army from 1941 until 1945, and served in the South Pacific Theater and received the Bronze Star. He married Cecille "Jonnie" Ames on January 27, 1946, in Kewanee. He was a truck driver for Sealtest Ice Cream for several years and retired from Continental Baking Company. He was a life member of the Kewanee Masonic Lodge #159, AF and AM, and a member of Elim Covenant Church and Teamsters Union. He enjoyed wood carving, fishing, hunting, and spending winters in Arizona. Mickey is survive by his wife, Jonnie; a daughter, Mary Scott of Moline; a son, Michael McDermand and his fiancee, Marilyn Wilson, of Crystal Lake, Illinois; five grandchildren, Brett Scott and his wife April, Laura Scott, Clint Scott, Andrew McDermand and Jeffrey McDermand; and his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Beverly McDermand of Bradford.
