Robert L. Hudelson, 66, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Unexpectedly on Monday, November 12, 2012, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, Illinois.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Tim Green officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Moline Youth Baseball Association.
Robert LeRoy Hudelson was born June 3, 1946, in Hannibal, Missouri, the son of Robert Eugene and Lucille Helen Teeter Hudelson. He was raised in Coal Valley by his grandmother, Minnie Teeter, and uncle, Bud Teeter. He attended Arizona State University and served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Kristine Anne Strupp on June 18, 1966, in Rock Island. He later married Lillian Lage McMillan on February 27, 2001, in Little River, South Carolina. He was employed by Alcoa for 26 years, first in ingot casting and later as heavy equipment operator, retiring in 2008. He previously was a pattern maker at Frank Foundries for 19 years, and won first place in a national pattern making competition.
Bob was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. He was an avid sports fan, especially Cubs, Bears, and NASCAR racing. He played all sports, and in earlier years played baseball for the Quad City Angels. He was completely in love with gardening and doing yard work.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lillian; four sons and their spouses, Brian Hudelson of Camden, Arkansas, Scott and Diane McMillan of Sherrard, Illinois, Michael and Wendy McMillan of Illinois City, Illinois, and Douglas and Lorena McMillan of Coal Valley; five grandchildren, Allison Wilson, Jonathan McMillan, Grace McMillan, Zachary McMillan, and Jonathon McMillan; and two half-brothers.
