Robert J. Hebestreit, 78, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Saturday, February 15, 2025, at home.

A gathering to celebrate Bob’s life will be held in the Spring and announced in the near future. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan, Illinois.

Robert Joseph Hebestreit was born June 20, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Carl and Pearl (Potter) Hebestreit. He graduated from Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina. He married Carol Alber and the couple had two children together prior to separating. He later married Judith Gann on February 23, 1999, in Rock Island.

Bob worked as a pipefitter for many years for UA Local Union #719. He spent most of his years working at power plants including the Quad Cities Generating Station in Cordova, Illinois, and the Byron Nuclear Generating Station in Byron, Illinois. He retired in 2015. 

He enjoyed playing pickleball and walking the Bix. He was also a member of the Midwest Corvette Club, and a fan of Nascar and football.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; four children, Rob (Sophia) Hebestreit of Dayton, New Jersey, Brian Hebestreit of Red Bank, New Jersey, Laurie (Shawn) Meenan of Rock Island, and Jeff Hannah of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Hunter and Haley Hebestreit, Paige (Erick) Meenan Falconi, Dan Meenan, Hannah Meenan, and Allison (Quentin) Kilgore; and a sister, Gayle (Jack) Hallam of Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Hannah; and sisters, Beverly Kiley and Carleen Lehman.
