Robert H. Mangelsdorf, 77, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, September 12, 2011, in the VA Medical Center, Iowa City, Iowa

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, with The Reverend Dr. Wilfred L. Karsten officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to the church. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements.

Robert Herman Mangelsdorf was born October 3, 1933, in Moline, the son of Herman Frederick and Marie Geiger Mangelsdorf. He served in the United States Navy. He married Margaret Ann Yager on July 3, 1954, in Rock Island. He was a wood pattern maker for many years, retiring as owner of Mangelsdorf Pattern Company, Moline, in 1997. He previously worked at several companies, include Deere and Company, and Keller Pattern Company, where he was part-owner.

He was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for many years, and enjoyed wood working.

Bob is survived by his wife, Margaret; seven children and their spouses, Richard Mangelsdorf of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Katherine and Kevin Morse of Fort Wayne, Indiana, David and Ann Mangelsdorf of Milan, John and Sylvia Mangelsdorf of Panama City, Florida, William and Wendy Mangelsdorf of South Bend, Indiana, Paul and Kerry Mangelsdorf of Moline, and Robert Mangelsdorf of Davenport, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Kenneth and Anne Mangelsdorf of Indiana, and Daniel and Jan Mangelsdorf of Arizona.
