Moline, Illinois Robert D. Bloom, 87, of Moline, died Thursday, December 23, 2004, in Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Services are 2 p.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Stacie R. Fidlar officiating. Burial is in Andover Cemetery. Visitation is Noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island, American Cancer Society, or American Lung Association. Mr. Bloom was born November 9, 1917, in East Moline, the son of Walter and Mamie (Graham) Bloom. He married Desyl Swanson on June 21, 1941, in Andover. He served in the U. S. Army in both the European and Pacific Theaters during WW II. He was employed as a sheet metal worker at Cartridge Pack, Davenport, retiring in 1979. He previously worked for AMETEK. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island, Ageless Achievers of the church, Moline Viking Lodge, and Moline American Legion Post #246. He enjoyed golf and bowling. Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Desyl; two sisters, Bertha Stanley of Cordova, and Dorothy Gardner of Oregon; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Richard and April Bloom of Missouri and Grace Bloom of New Windsor; and many nieces and nephews, including Wayne and Kathy Swanson of Lynn Center, Everett and Dorothy Swanson of Moline, Don and Barbara Youngberg of Moline, and Janet Hansen of California.
