Ricky D. Salsman

Ricky D. Salsman, 68, of Coal Valley, died Saturday, February 5, 2022, in UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday, February 14, at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with visitation one hour before the services. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Ricky was born January 7, 1954, in Moline, to Calvin and Maxine (Lewis) Salsman. He graduated from Moline High School in 1972. He married the love of his life, Linda Johnson, on October 18, 1975, in Rockford. He was a welder for John Deere Davenport Works and then John Deere Harvester Works, retiring in 2014 with 30 years of service.

Ricky was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed nothing more than being in his boat from sunup to sundown. He was a bowler on a few leagues, including the John Deere League. He enjoyed woodworking, making many gifts for family and friends to treasure for a lifetime. He loved playing games and watching videos on his tablet. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, St. Louis Cardinals fan, and a very huge Illini fan. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing songs with family and friends. The Eagles and CCR were his favorite bands.

Ricky is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda; children, Mindy of Moline and Evan of Coal Valley; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Tom Simpson of Colona; sister-in-law, Joyce Salsman of Montezuma, Iowa; grandchildren, Cody, Jared, and Kal-El; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jimmy.
