Richard W. Welsh, 80, of Silver Creek, Georgia, formerly of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Atrium Health Floyd, Rome, Georgia.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with The Rev. Tim Snart officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, with the Vietnam Veterans of America Quad Cities Chapter #299 will present military honors. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, where he was a member.
Richard William Welsh was born December 22, 1942, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of William Richard and Evelyn Welsh. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life, Betty Jean Peplow on February 11, 1989, in Coal Valley.
Dick owned and operated Home Repair & Remodeling for many years. Previously he worked for CDI for over 15 years and Gale Products. He belonged to Calhoun American Legion Post #47 and Building Together. He enjoyed sculpting wood and acrylic landscape painting.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, John Hoyt of Centerville, Tennessee, and Robert (Kimberly) Bryan of Millington, Tennessee; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
