Richard W. Parsons, 62, of Davenport, Iowa, died Friday, July 29, 2016, at his home in Moline, Illinois.
A gathering of family and friends to share a meal and memories for Ricky will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2016, at Kendall Hill Park in Wood River, Illinois. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of the Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
He was born April 1, 1954, in Louisiana, Missouri, the son of Richard and Charlene (Johnson) Parsons. While living in the Quad Cities, he worked at Tyson Foods.
Ricky "loved living". He enjoyed music, dancing, and was a comedian in his own right, He loved to play basketball, and was still able to keep up with the kids on the court in recent years. Above all else, he loved his family.
He is survived by sons, Richard "Cortez" Parsons and Dajuan Brown; a daughter, Sherrietha and Malcolm Roach of St. Louis; siblings, Mike and Carmen Parsons of Alton, Illinois, Shaunte Morris of Arlington, Texas, Sandra and Dwayne McClendon of St. Louis, Kelly Mathis of Moline, Marilyn and David Howard, Andrea Parsons, and Christina Parsons; aunts and uncles, Eleanor Allen, LeRoy and Rena Johnson, and Delbert Parsons; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
