Richard R. Crow, 76, of Moline, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at his residence.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Visitation is from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Coal Valley Church of the Nazarene, where he was a member.
Richard Ray Crow was born June 27, 1928, in Oxford, Iowa, the son of Raymond H. and Hazel Ann (Cotter) Crow. He graduated from the Iowa City Business College. Richard married the former Betty J. Campbell January 22, 1951 in West Burrough, Missouri. She preceded him in death August 6, 1996. He married the former Laverta G. Hampton May 14, 2000, in Coal Valley. Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from the John Deere Parts Warehouse, Milan. Previously he was employed at AMETEK in East Moline, and worked part-time at Mississippi Valley Credit Union, Rock Island for 23 years.
Richard enjoyed reading and loved music. He sang professionally throughout the Midwest and Southern United States. He sang with a special group that went to area retirement homes and with several other musical groups including; The Kingsmen Gospel Quartet, and The Gospel Notes.
Survivors include his wife, Laverta, of Moline; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Mike Tansey of Phoenix, Arizona; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Crow of Orion, Illinois, and Patrick and Betty Crow of Cedar Falls, Iowa; five grandchildren, Brandy Impens, Rachel Impens, Samantha Crow, Alex Crow, and Anthony Crow; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Paul King of Iowa City, Iowa; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Lynn and Ruth Crow of Iowa City, Iowa, and Ret. Col. Graham and Darlene Crow of San Antonio, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Jean Crow of Gooselake, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a brother, Stephean Crow.
