Richard O. "Dick" Wickum, 82, of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, September 13, 2015, at home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, with Father Donald Levitt officiating. Burial is at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
Dick was born November 4, 1932, in Kenyon, Minnesota, the son of Obert Richard and Helen (Jones) Wickum. He married Loretta Hoeg on August 27, 1955, in Moline. He served in Korea with the U.S. Army.
He was a lineman and crew leader for Mid-American Energy, formerly Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric, for 43 years, retiring in 1993.
Dick belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the Moline VFW Post 2153. He enjoyed photography and loved his dog, Bandit.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Loretta; a daughter, Linda Lake of Rock Island; grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Stone-Hensley, and Amy (Joseph) Taets, all of Moline, and Courtney Lake of Rock Island; great-grandchildren, Taylor Stone, Kaylee Taets, and Alya Lake; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Stone, and sisters, Eraine Perron and Bettie Alden.
