Richard L. Crawford, 73, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at home.
Rich's wishes were to help others by donating his body to the University of Iowa. Burial will take place at Rock Island National Cemtery at a later date. A celebration of his life will be at a later date at the VWF Post #2153, Moline, where he was a lifelong member. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is assisting the family.
He was born October 11, 1943, in Moline, the son of Richard H. and Irene Frances (Spratt) Crawford. He married Lila Thurman on October 2, 1982, in Rock Island. He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring in 1980.
Rich and Lila had a home in Tucson, Arizona, for 18 years before moving back to Moline in 2002 to be close their grandchildren. He worked part time at the Isle of Capri in Bettendorf.
He enjoyed bowling, archery, and fishing, and watching NASCAR. Above all else, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Rich is survived by his wife, Lila; a daughter, Cindy Blaylock of Milan; step-daughters, Marsha Clymer of Moline, and Mary Taravella of Davenport; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; a special cousin, John Denton and his wife, Karen, of Milan; and his beloved dogs, Daisy and Sabrina. He was preceded in death by his parents.
