Richard E. Grimm, 86, of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, August 3, 2014, in St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is one hour before the service. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where Moline American Legion Post #247 will present military honors. Memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.
Richard Edward Grimm was born July 31, 1927, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Rudolph Henry and Helen Pittman Grimm. He graduated from Missouri Military Academy, and married Jacqueline Jean Moore on March 19, 1948, in Jefferson City, Missouri. She died September 5, 2005. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard during WW II. He was an inspector at the Rock Island Arsenal for 23 years, retiring in 1990. He previously worked for the Atomic Energy Commission in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, and had been a leader in Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts. He enjoyed traveling and woodcarving.
Dick is survived by four children and their spouses, Linda Smith of Stroud, Oklahoma, Russell and Marsha Grimm of Tulsa, David and Becky Grimm of Tucson, Arizona, and Pamela and Gary White of Hampton, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
