Richard E. Franklin

Richard E. Franklin, 64, of Milan, Illinois, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, February 16, 2023, at home.

Services are 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Private burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Richard Earl Franklin was born August 19, 1958, in Huron, South Dakota, the son of Benjamin Earl and Dorothy (Daugherty) Franklin. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and went on to marry Margie Daniel in January of 1987, and the couple had a daughter, Rickie, prior to separating.

Rick was a hands-on, jack of all trades, guy who worked in the construction field hanging dry-wall and doing other construction/carpentry work. He would frequently help family and friends with landscaping and home improvement projects, and recently enjoyed building rockets.

He is survived by his daughter, Rickie Franklin; grandchildren, Aayonah, Adilynn, and Avery; siblings, Gene Franklin of Paducah, Kentucky, Victor Franklin of Philip, South Dakota, Michael Franklin of Phoenix, Arizona, Deanna Wilson of Moline, and Daniel Franklin of Davenport; his significant other, Kathy McCulloch of Milan; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Janet Brenner, Joan Smith, Jerry Franklin, Marilyn Westfall, and Dewain Franklin.
