After graduating from Moline High School, Richard dedicated three years of his life to serving in the U.S. Air Force. On April 24, 1974, he married the love of his life, Donna K. Throughout his professional life, Richard contributed his skills and dedication to various endeavors. He worked for renowned companies such as Caterpillar, International Harvester, Royal Neighbors, and served on the toll bridge for the City of Rock Island. However, his most notable venture was owning and operating Durbin's Cleaning Service during the 1970s and 1980s, leaving an indelible mark on the community he served.
