Rex B. Hillman, 67, of Davenport, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be announced in the near future. A benefit and celebration of Rex’s life will be 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, at Geezer’s Draft House, 1654 W. 3rd Street, Davenport. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Rex Burdette Hillman was born November 20, 1954, in Missouri, the son of William and Wanetta (Jenkins) Hillman. He married Nellie Gladfelter and the couple had three children before separating. He later married the love of his life, Kim Hoon, on May 17, 2008, in Davenport.

He loved fishing and cutting the grass. He also loved helping others, expecting nothing in return. He worked for Home Helpers. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Rex, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rex is survived by his beloved wife, Kim Hillman; three children, Corey (Kim) Hillman of Maquoketa, Iowa, Kathleen Hillman of Davenport, and Casi (Branden) McDonald of Davenport; two step-daughters, Kayla Crowe of Davenport and Crystal Crable of Eldridge, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald Hillman, Dave (Melissa) Hillman, Frank Hillman, June (Dave) Leibli, and Jodie Hillman; a step-brother, Danny McGinity; and JoAnn Smith, who was like a mother to Rex. He was preceded in death by his father, William Hillman, Sr.; his mother and step-father, Wanetta and Melvin McGinity; two brothers, Timothy and Phil Hillman; two sisters, Becky Bowman and Anna Hillman; a step-daughter, Jennifer Hoon; a great-granddaughter, Lailiana Hickman; and Al Smith, who was like a father to Rex.
