Moline, Illinois

Regina M. Markum, 68, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, December 26, 2024, at home.

A gathering to celebrate Gina’s life will be announced at a later date. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Gina’s memory.

The former Regina Marie Burkhead was born June 1, 1956, in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Jerome “Jerry” and Mary “Peg” (Neville) Burkhead. She graduated from Alleman High School in 1974 and later married the love of her life, Donald Markum, on May 16, 1981, in Rock Island.

A natural caregiver, Gina dedicated her life to helping others. She worked with Home Instead, the Bettendorf Children’s Museum, and most importantly, nurtured her own family with love and devotion. Gina had a deep appreciation for nature and spent her free time outdoors, capturing moments through photography, knitting beautiful creations, and feeding hummingbirds.

Gina is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Don; two children, Crystal (Darcy Kraemer) Markum of Davenport, Iowa, and Jacob (Rachel) Markum of Spokane, Washington; two grandsons, Bryce and Graham Markum; siblings, John (Becky) Burkhead of Moline, Jim (Maribeth) Burkhead of Mesa, Arizona, Don Burkhead of Dixon, Iowa, and Mary Burkhead of Rock Island; many nieces and nephews; and her grand-dog, Henry. She was preceded in death by her parents and two nieces, Lindsay and Katy Burkhead.
