Rebecca “Becky” Hulm Mack, 72, of Moline, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 5, 2024, in Omaha, Nebraska, while visiting relatives.
A celebration of Becky’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 17, beginning with a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with Fr. Donald Levitt officiating. A hospitality gathering with a time of sharing along with food and drink will follow until 5 p.m. in the City View Room on the lower level of Trimble Pointe. Burial service will be held on Saturday, August 31 at Meadow Gallaway Cemetery in Meadow, South Dakota. Memorials may be made to Moline Regional Community Foundation, Winnie’s Place, or a favorite charity.
Rebecca Ann Hulm was born August 17, 1951, in McLaughlin, South Dakota, to Roy T. and Florence (Ward) Hulm. She lived on the family homestead in a one room sod house with an outdoor toilet. In 1964 the family built a new home with all the modern amenities. She attended a one room school house in Meadow, South Dakota and in ninth grade she and her brother shared an apartment in Lemmon, South Dakota (approximately 40 miles north) to attend high school. Weekends were spent back at the farm. She graduated from Lemmon High School in 1969. She then attended two years at the National College of Business in Rapid City. She worked at the Pennington County Sheriff’s Department in South Dakota. She married Craig Mack on November 25, 1978, in Rapid City, South Dakota and they spent their first year of marriage in Omaha, Nebraska. In August 1979, Craig accepted an Architect position at John Deere and moved to Moline, Illinois. She worked for WaterMark Corners in Moline and proudly owned Curves of Moline. She was a problem solver who loved helping people and was a grandma to many. Winters were spent at Miramar Beach, Florida where she built further friendships.
Becky is survived by her husband, Craig; two children, Graham Mack of Moline and Jillian (Kevin) Ray of O’Fallon, Missouri; two grandchildren, Zander and Elinor Ray; siblings, Terry (Mardi) Hulm of New Underwood, South Dakota, Keith Hulm of Meadow, South Dakota, and Kirk Hulm, of Rapid City, South Dakota; and nephew Jesse Hulm, of Rapid City, South Dakota, niece Jenna (Gus) Volmer and great niece Sage of Rapid City, South Dakota, Erik (Melinda) Hulm and great nephews Hugh & Elias of Crested Butte, Colorado, niece Macee (Geoff) Wilber and great nieces Amelia, Josephine & Stella of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, Madison (Kole) Stiner and great nephews Knox & Brooks of McPherson, Kansas, niece Marranda (Hayden) Emery and great nephew Wesley of Fargo, North Dakota, niece Marleigh Hulm of St. Louis, Missouri. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Betty J. Mack of Omaha, a sister-in-law, Susan Meusey of Omaha, nephew Richard (Maddie) Stemm, great nieces Hazel & Scarlett, nephew Robert (Ali) Stemm, great nephew Rowan & great niece Sienna, and a brother-in-law, Dennis W. Mack (Robert Cohen) of New York City; a foreign exchange student with whom she remained close, Virginie Bassem (Michael Molas) of Brussels, Belgium; honorary grandchildren, Naomi & Sage Hoeper; and many beloved cousins, classmates and friends that she considered family. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Kyle Hulm, her father-in-law, Walter Mack and a brother-in-law, Joseph Meusey.
