Raymond J. Varga, 74, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, June 1, 2017, in UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Friends are invited to join the family at a funeral luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe following the burial.Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Raymond Jerome Varga was born November 14, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to Andrew Michael and Elizabeth Geber Varga. He married Janet Joy Breivogel on April 20, 1968, in Midlothian, Illinois. He served in the US Army for three years, and then worked for the US Postal Service in Chicago for 22 years, and Moline for 20 years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Union Congregational Church, Moline, Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 776, and a former member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed ballroom dancing and golfing..
Ray is survived by his wife, Janet; two sons and daughters-in-law, Evan and Rachel Varga of Morris, Minnesota, and Derek and Nimita Varga of Gurnee, Illinois; four grandchildren, David, Amy, Anya and Vikram Varga; and siblings and spouses, Arthur and Linda Varga of Gurnee, Mary and Everett Skimerhorn of Midlothian, and Audrey Varga of Alsip, Illinois.
