Raymond J. Olson, 90, of Moline, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Visitation is 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2005, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Private family graveside services will follow at Moline Memorial Park, with The Reverend Thomas Peterson officiating.
Raymond John Olson was born December 20, 1914, in Moline, the son of Andrew and Theresa (Linnberg) Olson. He graduated from Moline High School in 1933. He married Myrtle Gustafson on January 28, 1939, in Moline. She died November 26, 1996. He was employed by John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, for 40 years, retiring as sheet metal supervisor in 1975.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Moline, and enjoyed golf, fishing, traveling, playing the piano and accordion, and was a Chicago Cubs fan. He loved his family, and they enjoyed his sense of humor.
Ray is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Sandee Olson, and a daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Rick Anderson, all of Moline; four grandchildren and their spouses, Tim and Jada Anderson of Greensboro, North Carolina, Teri and Mike Light of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Russell and Janet Roderick of Phoenix, Arizona, and Shelley and Toby Spicer of Rock Island; six great-grandchildren; and his twin brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Eleanor Olson of Rock Island. He was preceded in death by his wife and a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Molly Olson.
