Randy L. Cook, 74, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at home.

Services to celebrate Randy’s life will be held Saturday, September 14, at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with military honors conducted by Vietnam Veterans of America Quad Cities Chapter at 2:00 p.m. Immediately following military honors, there will be a time of sharing for family and friends at 2:15 p.m. Livestreaming may be viewed on Randy’s obituary page at www.TrimbleFuneralHomes.com. Randy LaVern Cook was born December 25, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Alvey and Eva (Edler) Cook. He married the love of his life, Irma Smith, on June 2, 1972, in Davenport. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and went on to work for Continental Cement for over 30 years, retiring in 2012.

He enjoyed going to the casinos, watching westerns, feeding birds, and looking out for his neighbors as the self-proclaimed “King of the neighborhood watch”. He also loved fixing cars in his younger years and was still known to tinker in his garage. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Randy, especially his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Randy is survived by his loving wife of over 52 years, Irma; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gina and Ron VanDeWalle of LeClaire, Iowa, Angie and Ron Crino of Blue Grass, Iowa, and Todd Eagen of Davenport; grandchildren, Zachary McPhee, Randy McPhee, Cory VanDeWalle, Treavor VanDeWalle, Karla Eagen, Kyler Eagen, and Rylan Crino; step-grandchildren, Savanna Goertzen, Jill Bratcher, Charles McPhee, Steven McPhee, and Markcus Adams; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Melissa Cook; a great-granddaughter, Eliza VanDeWalle; and brothers, Roger, Rocky and Renny Cook.
