Ramon Mojica, Sr.

Ramon Mojica, Sr., 78, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Friday, September 13, 2024, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.

Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 20, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, immediately followed by a funeral luncheon. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the family.

Ramon was born December 15, 1945, in San Antonio Carupo, Michoacan, Mexico, the son of Luciano and Maria Guadalupe Mojica Leon. He married Antonia “Toni” Quevedo in 1998, in Rock Island. He was a welder by trade, working in many capacities over the years including for the railroad and as manager of a welding shop.

He will always be remembered as a family man who would do anything for them. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whether it was being their taxi or watching their sporting events. He also loved being home with his wife and particularly enjoyed their Netflix movie nights.

Ramon is survived by his beloved wife, Toni Mojica; his children, Rogelio (Carol) Villanueva of Wisconsin, Antonia Elston of Rock Island, Ramon (Margarita) Mojica, Jr. of Moline, Luis (Angelica) Mojica of Columbia, South Carolina, Rosa (Jorge) Guzman of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Jaime (Debbie) Mojica of Peoria, Arizona, and Areli (Aaron) Charlet of Moline; many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Madre Chabela Mojica of Mexico, and Maria Guadalupe (Raul) Rangel of Rock Island; brothers, Rafael (Maria Gavina) Mojica of Rock Island, and Jaime (Rosa) Mojica of California; sister-in-law, Maria Teresa Mojica of California; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Vicente, Luciano and Bonifacio Mojica.
