Ramah E. Heinrich, 80, of Durant, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at home.
A gathering to celebrate Ramah’s life will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, at the Durant American Legion, 712 5th Street, Durant. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Ramah’s memory.
Ramah Evelyn Eitel was born July 30, 1943, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Raymond and Leoma (Klingsmith) Eitel. She married the love of her life, John Heinrich, on January 27, 1962, and the couple had three children prior to John’s death on May 22, 2005.
Ramah worked as a teacher’s aid and later in the kitchen for the Durant Community School District before working at Jeff’s Market in Durant decorating cakes.
She was a member of Gloria Dae Lutheran Church in Durant. She enjoyed crocheting and baking, working on word and Sudoku puzzles, scratch lottery tickets and playing Bingo. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Ramah, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ramah is survived by three children, Steven (Keri) Heinrich of Eldon, Missouri, Scott (Lori) Heinrich of Durant, and Rebecca (Patrick) Bechmann of Wilton, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her step-mother, Betty Eitel of Kirksville, Missouri; and nine siblings. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Heinrich; father, Raymond Eitel; mother and step-father, Leoma and George Reide; great-granddaughter, Rosabelle; and sister, Vicki Cunningham.
