Coal Valley, Illinois Ralph E. ''Bus'' Curtis, age 78, of Coal Valley, died Sunday, July 15, 2001. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oakdale Memorial Park, Davenport with Military Rites performed by the Moline American Legion Post 246. A memorial fund will be established. Ralph Edward Curtis was born October 31, 1922 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Ralph and Vivian (Kibler) Curtis. He married Gwendolyn Arp on February 18, 1950 in Davenport. Ralph served in the Army during WW II, and served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was employed at the John Deere Experimental Works in Silvis for 17 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Moline American Legion Post 246 and worked there in the late 60's and early 70's. He enjoyed listening to music and loved golfing. He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn of Coal Valley, a daughter and son-in-law, Cher and David Carton of Geneseo, a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Deb Curtis of Jordan, Utah, four grandchildren, Chad Erickson and Andrea Erickson of Moline and Christine Curtis and Daniel Curtis of Jordan, Utah, and a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Marvin Smith of Newburg, Indiana.
