Phyllis B. Reed

Phyllis B. Reed, 83, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Friendship Manor, Rock Island. 

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Grace Church PC (USA), 2324 18th Ave in Rock Island, Illinois. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. A private burial will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Friendship Manor. 

The former Phyllis Blanche Borst was born May 1, 1940, the daughter of Floyd and Heloise (Woolley) Borst. She married the love of her life, Marvin Reed, on December 8, 1957, in Cable, Illinois. She worked for the Sherrard School District, then continued her career as a secretary for John Deere Parts Distribution Center in Milan. 

Phyllis was a former member of Sherrard Presbyterian Church and continued her faith at Grace Church PC (USA). She enjoyed going to her grandsons’ baseball games, sewing, camping, traveling, watching and feeding birds, volunteering in various positions at Friendship Manor, and gathering with her lunch bunch. 

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Joel) Thompson, and Marilyn (Brent) Ovens; her grandsons, Isaac Thompson, and Henry Thompson; her sister, Janet Fox; her brother, Leon (Bonnie) Borst; her brother-in-law, Jet Hall; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents; her husband; and her sister, Linda Hall.
