Peter V. Gray

Peter “Pete” V. Gray, 83, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Monday, April 03, 2023, in his home.

Services are Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 1:00 P.M., in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. A Visitation will take place at noon. Burial will follow services in Rock Island National Cemetery.

Peter was born September 17, 1939, in Lynn, Massachusetts, the son of Joseph and Francis (McGonnel) Gray. He married Kimberly Swanson on April 5, 2012, in Rock Island, Illinois. He retired as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, owned Hillcrest Golf Course in Orion, Illinois until 2008, and worked at the Rock Island Arsenal as a Maintenance Manager and Tank Designer.

He was a member of the Rock Island VFW, he treasured all manner of wildlife viewed from his front porch, and prized his vacations especially to Hawaii.

Peter is survived by his wife, Kimberly; his stepchildren, Brandi (Kyle) Russell, and Austin (ShoShanna) Swanson; his grandchildren, Owen Christy, and Weston Russell; many nieces and nephews; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sally Green, and Ann Reddy; and his beloved dog, Toby.
