Frederick P. ?Paul? Wheeler, Sr., 81, of Davenport, Iowa, died Sunday, December 14, 2008, in Manor Care, Davenport.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to the family.
Frederick Paul Wheeler was born June 29, 1927, in Colo, Iowa, the son of David and Grace (Stone) Wheeler. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, and married Myra Chase on March 15, 1949, in Bettendorf, Iowa. He was a new car mechanic at Lujack?s for 50 years.
He formerly was a volunteer fireman in Davenport and a drummer in a band. He enjoyed carpentry, and gardening, and was an avid Hawkeye, Bears, and Cubs fan.
Paul is survived by his wife, Myra; five children, Donna Fisher, Joanne Daymude and her husband Daniel, Frederick Wheeler, Jr., and Donald Wheeler, all of Davenport, and Nancy Wheeler and her husband Wayne Hildebrandt of Sabula, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Nelson of Shell Lake, Wisconsin; and a brother, Leo Wheeler of Syracuse, Utah.
