Paul P. Birdsall, 93, a resident of Avonlea Cottage in Milan, Illinois, formerly of Orion, Illinois, died Thursday, April 23, 2015, in UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, 1700 1st Street, Coal Valley, Illinois. Burial is in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Visitation is one hour before the service.
Paul Philip Birdsall was born June 27, 1921, in Durand, Illinois, to Lloyd and Goldie (Phillips) Birdsall. He married Frances Chance on July 15, 1948, in Rockford, Illinois. She died March 2, 2011. He served as an Army combat construction engineer in WW II. He was employed by Deere and Company in maintenance and shipping and receiving at John Deere Merchandising for 20 years, retiring in 1986. He previously worked for various John Deere dealers.
Paul is survived by three children and their spouses, Cynthia and Robert Garner of Rock Island, Daniel and Geraldine Birdsall of Lynn Center, Illinois, and Connie and Robert Dietz of Orion; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, Robert and Paul David Birdsall; a sister, Florence Allspaugh; and a brother, Robert Birdsall.
