Paul M. Wenstrup, 54, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, September 27, 2013, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois, after battling cancer for several months.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an education fund for his children, c/o Leo Wenstrup.
Paul Michael Wenstrup was born April 22, 1959, in Walnut Creek, California, the son of Leo Jr. and Margaret (McCafferty) Wenstrup. He married Lisa Branham in December of 1987, in Reynolds, Illinois. He served in the United States Navy, and earned his Bachelor's Degree while at the US Naval Academy.
Most recently, Paul worked for Gexpro in Davenport, as a sales manager, leaving in February of this year. Prior to that, he had progressed through the ranks of several electrical supplies companies, including Graybar in Davenport.
He enjoyed sports and athletics, including tennis and basketball, playing the piano and guitar, and traveling. He especially enjoyed playing online chess with people from all around the world.
Paul is survived by his children, Korey Wenstrup and Kelly Wenstrup, both of Moline, siblings and their spouses, Christine and Richard "Buzzy" Strong of St. Paul, Minnesota, Karen and Jack Dautrich of Naples, Florida, Leo and Cathy Wenstrup of Portage, Michigan, John and Carole Wenstrup of Guelph, Ontario, and David Wenstrup of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Cecelia Wenstrup.
