Pamela D. North, 76, of Cordova, Illinois, died Thursday, October 24, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Orion, Illinois.
Services to celebrate Pam’s life are Tuesday, October 29, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701, 12th Street, Moline, beginning with visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 5:00 p.m. first with Rev. Tanner Payton from Word of Life Church, Rock Island, officiating, and concluding with an Eastern Star Service. Family and friends are encouraged to wear green to the services to honor her memory. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial fund in her name.
Pamela Dawn McMahon was born January 16, 1948, in Moline, Illinois, to Floyd and Arrah (Brandt) McMahon. She graduated from Peoria Richwoods High School. She married James North on December 3, 1977, in Moline.
She worked as a Quality Control Specialist at various places for many years before finding her calling as a full-time Granny in early 1998. She held the position of “Granny” for 26 years.
Pam was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Women’s Army Corp and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and served as an advisor for The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, DeMolay International, and the International Order of Job’s Daughters. She received the Grand Cross of Color from the Rainbow Girls.
Pam was a collector of frogs and people. Her extensive collection of frogs come from all over the world. She was affectionately known as “Granny” to everyone and opened her home to many youths over the years who needed a place to call home.
Pam is survived by her husband, James; children and spouses, Arrah Osborne, Juana (Andrew) Keller, and John North; brothers and spouses, Patrick (Desi) McMahon, Michael (Gale) McMahon, and Mark (Rachel) McMahon; parents, Floyd and Arrah McMahon; grandchildren, Aimee Osborne, Trey Osborne, Trent Osborne, Elizabeth Keller, and Hannah Keller; her “Ungrandson”, Keegan Depoorter; and Pam’s “Bonus Daughter”, Lisa (Ken) Janke. She was preceded in death by her Grandma, Olive Lauritzen.
