Glenn Stern, 92, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John?s Lutheran Church, East Moline, where he was a member. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, with American Legion Post #246 presenting military honors. Visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
Glenn Paul Stern was born April 23, 1918, in Sanborn, Minnesota, the son of Theodore Emil and Elizabeth (Kosel) Stern. He married Gladys Victoria Mott on January 29, 1946, in Sanborn. She died August 12, 2000. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Glenn worked as a carpenter, retiring in 1983 from the Carpenters Hall, Local Union #166. He spent many years as a farmer.
He was a member of the Vikings Club, American Legion Post #246, and the Carpenter?s Retirement Club. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, and spending time with his family.
Glenn is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Glenna and Allan Buskirk of Aledo, Illinois; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Susan Stern of Moline, and Terry and Susan Stern of Silvis, Illinois; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters, Arlene VanRycke, Leona Gunnerson, and Ruth Daluge. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, and two sisters.
