Frances P. Birdsall, 83, of Rock Island, Illinois, formerly of Orion, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, with Pastor Samuel Henderson officiating. Burial is in Western Township Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The former Frances Pearl Chance was born April 21, 1927, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Reverend Jay C. and Clella Brown Chance. She married Paul P. Birdsall on July 15, 1948, in Rockford, Illinois. She had been employed as a charge aide at the former Oak Glen Home.
She was a long time member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, Milan, Illinois, where she was very active in all areas of the church. She loved gardening and spring flowers and enjoyed gospel music and playing the piano.
Frances is survived by her husband of 62 years, Paul; four children and their spouses, David Birdsall of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Cynthia and Robert Garner of Rock Island, Daniel and Geraldine Birdsall of Lynn Center, Illinois, and Connie and Robert Dietz of Orion; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and siblings, Pauline Watkins of Rockford, Margaret Martin of Franklin, Tennessee, Mildred Johnson of Rockford, Virginia Tucker of Kennett, Missouri, Dorothy Newnham of Milan, Donald Chance of Rockford, William Chance of Rockford, and Doris Rosener of Milan. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Birdsall, a daughter-in-law, Patricia Birdsall, three sisters, and two brothers.
