East Moline, Illinois Services for Owen C. McBride, 94, of East Moline, Illinois, are 1 p.m. Saturday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. The Reverend Steven Wood will officiate. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Moline. Mr. McBride died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Owen Curtis McBride was born March 6, 1908, in Akley, Minnesota, the son of Curtis Canfield and Alice Mable (Bell) McBride. He married Marjorie Emerson Ganion on November 4, 1972, in Moline. She died July 16, 1983. Owen farmed in North Dakota until 1956 when he moved to Moline. He worked as a tool grinder at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, for 14 years, retiring in 1970. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Moline, where he sang in the church choir since 1956, and was a member of UAW Local #865, Moline. Last year was the first year he did not help harvest in North Dakota, and he was an avid bowler until last year. Owen is survived by three sisters, Inez Kappleman of Ogden, Utah, Grace Orton of Tucson, Arizona, and Ellen Fish of Leesburg, Florida; a brother, Charles McBride of Upland, California; sisters-in-law, Betty McBride of Moline, and Esther McBride of Hot Springs, South Dakota; and several nieces and nephews, including Jane and Tom Olmsted of Moline, Janice McBride of Milan, and Mike and Cheryl Orton of Montpelier, Iowa, and a step-daughter, Marlene Thompson of Mayette, Kansas.
