Moline, Illinois Services for Oscar N. Wilson, 93, of Moline, are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline. The Reverend George Loveland will officiate. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church. Mr. Wilson died Sunday, February 16, 2003, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. He was born July 19, 1909, in Lynn Center, Illinois, the son of John and Vannie (Swanson) Wilson. He married Bernice Johnson on May 5, 1934, in Moline. During the depression, he began working for Ryttel Jewelry Store in Davenport, where he learned the jewelry trade. He later bought the business and renamed it Ryttel and Wilson. In 1959, the City took his building and he moved the shop to the mezzanine at Parker Department Store. He closed the store in 1971 and worked out of his home until he was 85. He was a long-time member of Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline, a lifetime member of Oakwood County Club, and a member of Moline Elks Lodge. His hobby was his work, but after retirement he started painting on canvas and on rocks. He also enjoyed golf and bowling. Oscar is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bernice; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Larry House of Munich, Germany, and Janet and Frederick Humphrey of Moline; two granddaughters, JoAnn Newberg and Jill Valdes; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Verle Spencer of Moline.
