Ora L. Brown, 68, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Sunday, February 18, 2024, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2024 in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Rev. Willie Jones officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Ora’s memory.
The former Ora Lee McDuffy was born December 29, 1955, in Louisville, Mississippi, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine “Willie Lee” (Hickman) McDuffy. She graduated from Rock Island High School and furthered her education at Scott Community College before embarking on her career at Case IH.
Ora was known for her open heart, welcoming many kids in need over the years into her life with an open door. Her boisterous spirit lit up any room she entered. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in her frequent trips to the casino, where she embraced the excitement of chance.
Above all else, Ora cherished her role as a grandmother, adoring her grandkids more than anything else in the world. She found solace and happiness in their presence, creating cherished memories that will endure for generations to come. Additionally, Ora had a passion for playing spades, where she engaged in friendly competition and camaraderie with loved ones and friends alike.
Ora is survived by two children, Terrill (Brittney) McDuffy and Markeysha Pulliam, both of Rock Island; grandchildren, Terrill Bogan, Rasheem Bogan, Tierra McDuffy, Gabrell McDuffy, and Cionna Rodgers; great-grandchildren, Eviah Hearn, Rasiyah Bogan, Rasheem Bogan, Jr., Ca’Maui, Terrill Bogan, Juelz Bogan, Michael Williams, and baby Shawn; siblings, Tyrone (Pam) Beck of Rock Island, John (Kim) McDuffy of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Debra McDuffy of Moline; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Bobby, Fred, Rose, and Loena; and her nephew, DeShawn Tatum.
