Opal Johnson, 93, of Geneseo, Illinois, died Friday, January 18, 2013, in Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo.
There will be no public services. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the Ruberg Scholarship Fund to be sent to the family.
The former Opal Rosina Ruberg was born October 6, 1919, in Bureau County, Illinois, the daughter of Samuel Joel and Eva (Irland) Ruberg. She married Dale Johnson on April 9, 1942. He died September 4, 1980.
She worked for J.C. Penney as a clerk for over 30 years, and taught and served in the church for many years.
Opal is survived by children and their spouses, Mike and Kathy Johnson of Prophetstown, Illinois, Terry Johnson of Coal Valley, Illinois, Doug and Theresa Johnson of Sherrard, Illinois, Sandy and John Knueppel of Cambridge, Illinois, Peggy and Jeff Oetker of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Kenneth and Deb Johnson of Osco, Illinois, 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews all who she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Harlen, Delbert, Rodney, and Max; and sisters, Fern Geisinger and Eva Dell Ruberg.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Good Samaritan Village for their wonderful care and love of Opal.
